Net gains: 10is Academy celebrates victories and visiting coaching legend

In tennis, having a week where everything clicks on all cylinders is rare, but 10is Academy in Ely just lived it. The Ely base tennis club not only saw its teams dominate the National League and Cambridgeshire Summer League but also welcomed a tennis star who could add yet another layer to their already impressive program.

Starting off with the younger squads, the 10 and Under division 1 team took to the courts with composure and precision, securing a league victory for their first match of the season against Cambourne with a solid 4-2 scoreline. Not to be outdone, the 16 and Under team, competing in the top division, also claimed victory against Cambourne. This marked their second win in as many matches, signalling a promising start to their season.

The success didn’t stop with the juniors. The 10is Academy Men 1 and Men 2 teams showed their prowess in the Cambridgeshire Summer League, each team recording victories that underscored a perfect start to their league campaigns. Particularly impressive were the Men 1, who have been a model of consistency and skill, yet to drop a set in their matches.

The crowning moment of the week came on Sunday when Louis Cayer MBE, a name synonymous with world-class coaching and tennis excellence, visited the academy. Cayer, who is currently working with the likes of Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury, spent the day conducting clinics for both junior and adult members of the 10is Academy. His presence was not just a nod to the academy’s growing reputation but also a critical eye on its future potential.

Louis has been advising the coaching program at 10is Academy Ely since its creation in 2021, offering his expertise and enhancing the program development with his seasoned perspective.

His contributions help bridge the gap between emerging techniques and time-tested strategies, enriching the academy's approach to training and player development.

Louis was pleased with the progress he witnessed, Cayer praised the passion of the head coach and players alike. His visit brought new insights and suggestions, further cementing his role as a pivotal figure in the development of the club's framework.

The atmosphere of camaraderie that Cayer noted is something that stands out at 10is Academy. It’s this spirit, combined with expert guidance and relentless dedication from everyone involved, that makes the academy not just a place to learn tennis but a community to be part of.

For those looking to up their game or start their tennis journey, 10is Academy is clearly a place to watch. Inspired by legends, driven by community, and marked by success, this Ely club is serving up something special. To join the action, check out www.10is.co.uk.
