Good luck, bad luck - Who knows

Once upon a time, there lived a skilled and dedicated tennis coach. He had diligently helped his tennis club grow its coaching program and help the club grow from 80 members to over 250 members. However, one unfortunate day, the management decided to let him go. It was seen as a great misfortune, leaving him feeling disheartened and uncertain about his coaching career. Many club players came to see the coach “What bad luck this is,” they said. The coach listened intently, nodding his head as if in agreement, smiling slightly. Then he spoke softly, “Bad luck, good luck — who really knows?”

Undeterred by this setback, he decided to turn adversity into an opportunity. He used his experience and passion to establish his own tennis club. The club gained recognition for its excellent coaching and soon attracted talented players from near and far. Soon after, players from the old club heard about this and visited the coach.  “You are now blessed with your own club and teams,” they said in unison, “What great luck this is!” But the coach simply replied, “Good luck, bad luck — who really knows?”

As the club thrived, the coach found himself working long hours and mounting stress. Balancing coaching sessions, administrative tasks, and club management became overwhelming. Concerned friends remarked on the sacrifices he was making and expressed their worries, “It is so much work. This is bad luck”. Yet, the coach smiled faintly and said, "Bad luck, good luck — who really knows?”

Fate took an unexpected turn when influential coaches noticed the coach’s dedication and expertise. He received an offer to profile players at the prestigious Roland Garros tournament. Soon enough, players and friends gathered at the club and said: “This is such good luck.” The coach who was busy with his coaching, looked up and said, “Good luck, bad luck – Who really knows.”

In a difficult decision, the coach chose to honor his commitment to Roland Garros, leaving his team without their coach for a crucial match. Unfortunately, his team faced a tough loss, perceived as bad luck by many. Yet, the coach remained steadfast, calmly stating, "Bad luck, good luck — who really knows?"

In the grand tapestry of life, the coach is trying to live is life knowing that the line between fortune and misfortune is often blurred. He tries to embrace each twist and turn, knowing that hidden blessings could emerge from perceived setbacks.
